Work has started at Walmer Castle to repair the leaking roof, with work expected to take a few years. Historic artefacts have been removed from inside the castle and the rooms closed to the public, but throughout the works the award winning gardens will remain open together with the café and shop.
During the renovations there will be regular guided tours and volunteers on hand to explain the history of the castle and what is happening.
