Drop in and hear hidden histories. Meet one of our miners and find out more about his life below ground.


Astor History Club

Wednesday 7th October – 7pm
Astor Community Theatre

A light-hearted Deal pub crawl through history, with Keith Rowland. Then a lecture on East Kent Folklore, with tour guide Sue Duckworth, followed by questions.

Film Club

Their first-ever film club will show the film ‘The General Strike: A Revolution Betrayed?‘ – a 1974 documentary produced about the 1926 General Strike.


Emmeline Pankhurst – Anarchist or Angel

Thursday 15th October – 7:30pm
Astor Community Theatre

Emmeline Pankhurst is one of the most influential and well-known British women to have ever lived, but was highly controversial.
Written by Chris Jaeger and starring Liz Grand.

Women of Deal – A community play

In an original collaborative production, the Women of Deal are bringing a drama to the Astor Theatre that tells the forgotten stories behind the lives of the women of Deal. Part drawn from letters and journals and part imagined – this will be their story.
